Ariens 724

I have an ariens 1973 724 snowblower and can't get it to throw snow mor than ten feet. I live in New England and we have gotten about 7 ft of snow in the last month and a half HELP

Also, consider doing a search for an impeller kit. That may take care of some issues as well. But detdrbuzzard makes a good point; if your belt is slipping your impeller can't do it's job.

Check the Impeller Bearing. A New Bearing can make a difference as well.

Based on your recent snowfalls,,,,a 724 maybe too small for the job ? But, first you should decide if the engine rpm's are bogging down or not....when unable to throw good..

The engine should run between 3500-3600 rpm full throttle,govenor should kick in and not allow the engine to slow too much, belts should be in good shape and engage to grab well without slipping.

The meltdown is under way ...

Improvement also can be realized by making sure your impeller housing and discharge chute are smooth and coated with silicone spray or like lubricant. Sanding with 150 grit will remove rough spots where rust can grab snow and slow it down. M H
