How to replace the speed control arm on an Ariens 824?

I just replaced the friction disc on my Ariens 824 snowblower. The machine worked fine for the initial pass then nothing. It may be possible that I damaged the speed control arm or one of the components. How is the speed control arm locked in position and how do you get at it?

You may want to post your model #, the ST824 (if that's your model) was made for a long time, with at least some differences in transmissions.

I'd also start with taking the bottom cover off, that would give you much more information about what the problem is.
