Scraper bar help?

1971 Ariens snowblower,,,,Hi everyone, I recently purchased a very good looking 1971 Ariens snowblower. Blower model 910995, Engine model H70-130067A, Tractor model 910962, I am in the process of getting it ready for winter and I have some confusion on replacement scraper blades as well as the function of the reinforcement angle. Here are my questions, 1. What is the reinforcement angle, and why does it seem like this old Ariens is the only blower I have ever heard it mentioned on. What is the,, double the price difference between the scraper blades listed on almost all parts sites? this is a link to a parts store that is not only selling them but has also provided pictures. scraper blade 01016459 is 15.50$ scraper blade 01038700 is 41.90$ and this mystery reinforcement angle 01044600 is 39.16.... the link http://www.ereplacementparts.com/ari...26_157227.html part, 63, 63, 64,

Having 0 experience with old Ariens I can't be much help. However, in the link, when you click on the specific scraper bar it shows all of the compatible machines it will fit. If they cross fit just get the less expensive one.
How bad is your scraper bar that you're considering replacing it? They're reall not supposed to wear very much. The skids are the main wear item. The scraper bar shouldn't really touch the ground. I use paint stir sticks under my scraper bar then drop the skids down so there'll be a bout a 1/8" gap between the bar and ground. Of course in gravel all bets are off.

I'd suggest as a first step going to Ariens Order Owners Manuals and download the manuals for that machine.

It looks like what you want is the 01016459- that's a 24" scraper blade. The other one is for a 32" 'blower, as is the reinforcement angle.

And I wouldn't rely on the cross-reference info on that site too much... if you look at the info for either of those scraper bars, it says they fit both 24" and 32" models which is physically impossible!

~1994 Ariens 924084 (ST1032) "papa bear": restored, re-engined, real nice!
1991 Ariens 924050 (ST824) "mama bear"
Toro PowerCurve 1800 "baby bear"

Be alert! America needs more lerts.

Here's a link for the parts manual. Elaw is correct. Back then they had model numbers for the bucket as well as the tractor. Your 910962 number is the better machine number to look up. Most useful websites will come up with ST724 and show the bucket as Sno-Thro attachment 910995, and the tractor as Sno-Thro 910962. The machine assembled is referred to as model 910962.

Ive only seen the reinforcement angle on 32 inch machines. The scraper bar has two sides tabs that attaches to the side of the bucket. As well as the usual mounting points to the bottom of the bucket. I tried ordering from an eBay vendor twice and kept getting the regular straight piece so I made my own on a previous project.
