carb/gov spring question

hi all
i have a ariens st504 that i,m working on
the spring is missing on top of the carb
can someone tell me how this spring hooks up to?
is it from the linkage of the carb to the governor linkage like the little rod is hooked up ?
will i need engine numbers or carb numbers to order the spring?
it's a tecumseh 5hp
thanks for your help,john

On my 5hp tecumseh Toro here's what my old spring looked like before I replaced it with new one.
I'm thinking you will need engine numbers, hopefully Ariens guys will chime in.

2016 Ariens Professional 28
2017 Toro Power Clear 721R

Page 31-32 show the spring hook ups for the carb. You will need your engine numbers to order the correct parts if they are missing.

Toro 8/24 (38080) 1989
Toro 721-QZR (38743) 2015 (Hemi Predator Power)
Toro 421-E (38585) 2008 (New Owner)
Experience is something you don't get until just after you need it.
