Tilting blower over with oil in crankcase ok?

Just starting to dig into doing some service on my rather ancient MTD Snowflite with an 8 hp Tecumseh HM80 motor. It's my first blower of this size.

I see a fair number of videos online where the poster tilts the machine up on the face of the bucket to get at the transmission innards etc.

Is this ok? I would imagine oil would be running places you wouldn't want it to go. Often folks reference emptying the fuel tank but I never hear anyone mention draining the oil first.

Thoughts?

I do it all the time. Make sure the oil cap/dipstick is tight. I've had a few seep.

*Forward* is okay, provided there isn't too much gas in the tank.

Tilt it toward the side the crankcase breather is on, and you'll regret it!
