valve stem lube

I'm going to lap in a couple of valves and think I need to valve stem lube. Briggs and Stratton has this product but locally it hard to find. is there another brand or substitute that I might use. thanks

Weather is another subject, high of 48 here today and mild for the seven day forecast.

I'd use engine oil. It's what lubricates the guides all the rest of the time... it should be okay in this circumstance also.

~1994 Ariens 924084 (ST1032) "papa bear": restored, re-engined, real nice!
1991 Ariens 924050 (ST824) "mama bear"
Toro PowerCurve 1800 "baby bear"

Be alert! America needs more lerts.

I have always used any engine oil that I had on hand. Never a problem and I have built some serious V8's. Valve stem lapping oil is an example of good marketing and little else.

I use engine assembly lube just because i have it on hand for assembling V8 engines, but for a simple valve job on a small engine oil is fine.
