Craftsman Model 53682552 engine

Hi, I own a 70's era Craftsman snowblower model 53682552 and I want to replace the engine. Sear's says the engine is no longer available and they don't even know of a replacement. Does anyone know of a replacement for this engine ? The model is 143586222 part # 756152. I've tried several small engine warehouses and they can't locate the engine by model or serial num either. Any help would be appreciated. John

Looks like a Tecumseh H60-75xx. I'm feeling like a standard Predator 212cc would be a good re-power path. But to be sure you should try to get & post some good pics of the engine now, especially the PTO (crankshaft output) side. Take the pulleys off and measure the crankshaft dimensions to see if you're in the right ballpark with the Pred.

The Pred lays the cylinder down to the left (as viewed from the starter side) and may not clear some parts like remote chute adjusters etc.

What's wrong with the old Tec?

You can also look for a parts blower with a bad transmission, broken auger gear box, ... just looking for a good engine, cheap.

Might find a new or used block on ebay.

Would need to find out if your guts would swap over.

The Predator is a really good choice for the money. Takes a little tweaking but it's very doable. It's the most popular re-power choice.

Make sure the windows are up before the snow plow goes by !!
