mis-matched model no.

I have a Tecumseh HM80-155128E engine with points behind flywheel. However the parts diagram (ie. Jacks Small Engines) show a solid state ignition for this model. I searched the web a bit and read that 1977-1978 was the last year Tecumseh used the points system and in there HM80-155128E engine.? My engine is on a Ariens 924040. My question is what parts diagram do I use to buy parts? Thanks!

Do you have a parts list for that vintage of engine showing points?

I don' t imagine that Tecumseh has too many different styles of points and condensers and you know you need them. Maybe email Jacks with the model and serial number and date code and ask them what you need for that engine.

The other option is to convert the engine to the point-less electronic module, which will get you off the hook for future flywheel removals.

Try these links for points

No I think they were using points up to the mid 80's

Switch it over to solid state. You won't be sorry
