8hp Tec.. odd symptom

father in laws machine, so

8HP Tec... nothing out of the ordinary here right.. starts up well.. throttles up and down with a sputter if you move to quickly.. re-starts warm without choke and only prime or only choke just fine..

so heres the weird part.. the primer bulb.. while its running seems to be geting preassurised with gasoline somehow... itl stall itself out at some point by which theres actually a few drops of gas getting squished out of the primer bulb itself... what gives!?!?? i cant think of how the carb could be sending preassure when it should be getting vacuum from the engine to the only vacuum line ( if i may call it that) hooked up to it...

Hello Marty. Try pushing a sewing needle or thin wire through the atmospheric vent hole on the side of the carb. (figure-15) in the link below.

Disassembly, Cleaning and Repair of Tecumseh Series 1 Carb 632107

will try.. could this be partially why this engine seems dofficult to get... just right... ? i can get it close enough.. but never just right..

Quite possibly. The pressurized bowl would be forcing more fuel into the main jet and upsetting a consistent metered fuel flow to the engine. Just my opinion.

Also check that the tank cap vents.....
