Photo Display

I am back after a seasonal absence and notice that embedded photos hosted from a remote site no longer display.

This is occurring on past threads where I posted photos, too

I suspect this arises due to an HTTP vs HTTPS issue. Some help with a refresher will be appreciated.

I'm not sure what your seeing, all of your posts WITH pictures are viewable to me. I use Windows 7 and internet explorer 11.

I just drag and drop … works fine.

Note though … its better when you edit first and save, as for some reason it rotates some randomly unless you do some miniscule edit function on it?

How `bout THAT ! Works on a notebook here, too, when I do as you do - Win 7 (64) & IE 11.0.96. A dialog displays to state that "Only secure content is displayed ...", but the images appear w/o taking any action.

My usual browser is FF 67.0.1. Current release is V 71. I'll have to look into matters.

Now how about Android? Any thoughts about the same failure to display on a tablet running 8.1.0

Thank you

Interesting how different OS's and browsers produce different results in these examples......

And to muddy the mystery even further, my situation, (with Win10 Professional and latest Firefox browser), I can't see the pictures either, only the icons. But if I click on the icons in an effort to display the pictures I get a warning screen that says this:

Warning: Potential Security Risk Ahead

Firefox detected a potential security threat and did not continue to Slalom4me. If you visit this site, attackers could try to steal information like your passwords, emails, or credit card details.

What can you do about it?

The issue is most likely with the website, and there is nothing you can do to resolve it. You can notify the website’s administrator about the problem.

Seems pretty wacky, getting all these different results......

So the issue is with the SSL cert (https vs http) like you thought. The site hosting the images doesn't have SSL, so the images get blocked here, but only if you are using a modern browser like Firefox or Chrome. The site itself isn't blocking the images, the browsers are doing it automatically as a security setting. Older browsers like Internet Explorer have lower security settings and so they show the pics.

Nothing we can really do on our side. Either the site hosting has to get a SSL cert, or the images have to be reuploaded to the site that already has one
