Oil questions on a Predator Generator

My Predator calls for 5W-30 in the winter and 10W-30 in the summer. So 2 questions really. When i switch it over to 5W, lets say i dont use it ONCE this winter and summer comes around. Can i just drain that back into to the container for next winter and do the same with the 10W when winter comes again? And is it possible, safely, to run one of these weights year round when using Mobil 1 Advanced or should i really drain it twice a year?

They say oil does have a shelf life..... but I wouldndt hesitate to just swap them back and forth if you have real low hours on it. A genset just doesn't see much action under normal circumstances. I'd go every few years on adding new oil unless you ran it for extended periods. If you use synthetics you could easily go longer...... this site is a great resource for all things oil: https://www.bobistheoilguy.com/forum...s.php?ubb=cfrm

I would think you could just run the 5w30 year round since the w actually stands for winter to reference how well the oil will flow in colder temps at start up. When it's warm out or when the engine reaches running temp both those oils will perform the same. Or you could mix the two and end up with 7.5w30
