Orange Crush will be activated

Looks like the vintage Sno Thro will be the preferred tool for this job...........

Alerts for: Lunenburg County

Warnings

3:40 PM AST Sunday 12 February 2017
Storm surge warning in effect for:
  • Lunenburg County
High Storm Surge levels and large waves are expected to impact the coast.

A slow moving, intense low pressure system will give high wave activity and storm surge along the Atlantic coast of Nova Scotia on Monday. On Monday morning near local high tide there will be some flooding, especially along south to east facing shorelines from Halifax southward to Shelburne County. On Monday night the waves will be significantly larger, resulting in a greater threat of flooding near local high tide for the entire Atlantic Coast, from Shelburne County to the Sydney area.
High waves combined with the surge may cause damage along the coast. Coastal flooding is possible along the shoreline. People close to the shoreline should stay on the lookout for worsening conditions.

Storm surge warnings are issued when water levels pose a threat to coastal regions.

Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada. To report severe weather, send an email to [email protected] or tweet reports to #NSStorm.

3:35 PM AST Sunday 12 February 2017
Blizzard warning in effect for:
  • Lunenburg County
Blizzard conditions with gusty winds and persistent visibility near zero in snow and blowing snow are expected or occurring.

A low pressure system will form south of Cape Cod this evening and rapidly intensify overnight as it approaches Nova Scotia. Snow at times heavy will develop in the far west of the province near midnight tonight then spread northeastward reaching northern and eastern regions Monday morning, and Cape Breton near noon on Monday. Very strong east to northeast winds will accompany this storm with gusts between 90 and 110 km/h expected, which will give extensive blowing snow with frequent whiteout conditions. Total snowfall amounts by Tuesday morning will range from 40 to 70 cm for the western portions of the province, 30 to 50 cm for the remainder of the province and Cape Breton.

As the storm moves slowly eastward, conditions will gradually improve over western portions of the province Monday evening, but extreme winter conditions will persist for most of the province until Tuesday morning.

For specific details for your location please consult your local city page on Environment and Climate Change Canada's weather page.
Travel is expected to be extremely hazardous due to reduced visibility. Road closures are likely. Travel is not recommended.

Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada. To report severe weather, send an email to [email protected] or tweet reports to #NSStorm.
