First of December!

Well, the left overs from Thanksgiving lasted waaay longer than I thought they would and here it is the first of December already!

It's been unseasonably warm here in N/W Illinois the last couple of days. Actually up in the 50s. Forget that! I'm ready for some snow!

How about everyone else? Snow, or not just yet?

I do have to admit that I would like to see some snow. Two reasons. First, I'm in education and when we get an inch or two I get a day off......with pay. 2nd reason is that I now have 3 snow blowers that I've never used before. The 1978 Gilson/Wards is one I picked up this past summer for $25.00 and spent all of maybe another 25 bucks to get it running very well. 2nd is a Toro clear path that I got. Paid going rate for that one but it is in like new condition. Then I bought another Toro CCR 2000 for $40.00 bucks that is in really good condition as well. Had to put the new ign. module in that one but it runs like new. Not a real big fan of moving snow but all my experience has been with a big MTD 2 stage. Hopefully with these single stage units I won't have to wear myself out with the big Gilson. The pics that you see, these are pretty much the way I bought them. No repainting, just cleaned the Gilson off. Toros are as I bought them.

Had light snow all day(Saturday, Dec. 1,2012) here in Massachusetts which amounted to a half an inch but made for a nice winter scene being Dec 1st...even played a little Bing-White Christmas cd! But.....Tomorrow will be in mid 50's...I believe Bwdbrn1 we are getting your weather as of tomorrow thru until wednesday and then it will cool of to low 40's by friday?? Tomorrow is Simplicity D-Day...I will uncover and tune up the Simplicity 870 8-28 (1690776) beast!!! Hopefully get some pics up tomorrow night. Got my new Mitten handle today in the mail. Waiting for my LED lightbulb to replace my 1156 bulb will compare the two although the amber lens on my light might not show any difference?
Micah68kj like the Sno Hogs on the Gilson did you put those on??? Also I do not see any levers by your handlebars... how do you make the auger go and drive go as well????

Welcome to the forum Simplicity.
I took the wheels off a Craftsman I had. The Gilson had solid ag tires on it and replacements are scarce so I just switched everything out. I had to fab axle bushings out of lengths of thick wall 3/4" copper water line. Ran it the full length of the axle tube and lined it with light Lithium grease. Someone told me it probably wouldn't last too long but it replaced a thin plastic tube so I bet it will last me my lifetime.
The auger control is seen just below the handlebars and is sticking down at about 5:00. There is a dead man switch on the left hand grip that shuts down the engine in emergency.Built before all the rules.

Yep. watched a bit of the weather last night and the jet stream was pushing the warm stuff right across the northern part of the country.
Gosh, it just past 6:30 here, and it's already 48! This ain't right.

I wonder, and maybe this is different further up north, but around here when watching the weather on local news, it's like it just sort of stops at the border. Like there is no weather in Canada. Does it stop going south on Canadian weather reports?
