Stihl Kombi system- anyone use one?

I lurked the weedeater subforum of the sister site PowerEquipmentFourms but did not find anything related to the Stihl Kombi system. Any one have one?

The Kombi system uses a power head and then many different attachments can be "plugged" into the lower half. I need a new string trimmer but they also offer a brush cutter which I could really use.
Any comments if you are familiar with this Stihl product is appreciated.

I've never owned one, but I would not hesitate to get one myself. I've not heard anything bad about STIHL products, or Echo.

only issue you may have is the crazy sound from the motor. the one i have is a beast but that crazy 4 stroke motor running a 2 stroke mix sounds so very funny.

I have the Ryobi/MTD equivalent, with several power heads, and multiple bottom end tools, and am very pleased with it. Highly recommend !

i have a KM 90r kombi that i picked up this year used and i have talked to a couple lawncare guys about them.

it seems like most of them have problems with the attaching system. there are plastic pieces that hold the shafts in place that break yearly and some have even questioned the strength of the shafts.

if i were you i would just get a straight shaft trimmer and buy a head for bushcutting and change it. it will be stronger and unless you are using 3 or 4 attachments its not worth the price for the kombi. you can go 91r or 111r 4 mix for more power. they also make a traditional 2 stroke 94r if you dont want to mess with the 4 mix engines.

I have a 110r KombI power head and 5 attachments. Love it.

Sting trimmer, blower, pole saw, cultivator, and articulating hedge trimmer.

I donít use it commercially, just home owner stuff. Never a problem though.

I tested 3 of them from my buddy before buying my own. I started with a KM90, then KM110, then the KM130. The KM90 needed to be spun up fully to have any real balls for thicker grass that I missed mowing a few times over. It performed even worse when doing edging. I skipped over the KM110 and went for the KM130 next. While it was slightly heavier it had the additional torque that made it worthwhile. These were heavily used by a buddy that does lawn care for a living.

I pulled the trigger on a 2017 KM131R along with a straight shaft string trimmer. My father in law got the same one but added the cultivator, 145deg here trimmer, and the bed redefiner. We've both been very happy with our purchases.
