Exclamation Closing Time!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dearly Beloved We are gathered here today so that we can to say Goodbye to 1 of the Paradise Cities. most trusted and well known hardware stores anybody has ever had the privlige of doing business with, for it has stood on the corner of 79th and Portland Ave for more than 50 years. as has been a beacon of help and hope to all of those who have passed thru it's doors. A place where everybody knows my name, along with many of the other town's folk. where the walls are packed to the ceiling and then some, and where the employees dogs would roam up and down the crowded aisles. A reminder of simpler times gone by. so this Saturday at 8 am I will load up "JR" in the back of the Heavy Chevy and take him on his First, Last and only Ride ever up to Johnson hardware to get fitted for belts and pick up some last minute stuff. Because come May 1st, 2018 the lights will go out and the doors will be closed for good. what will take it's place still remains to be seen and heard. For they will be DEEPLY MISSED!!!!!!!!!

Long LIVE THE POWERSHIFT!! MAY IT NEVER RUST IN PEACE!!

The neighborhood hardware store was the place to go long before the big box stores came along. Somehow it seems they had as much stuff just crammed into a tiny building !!

Make sure the windows are up before the snow plow goes by !!

I hear you, I miss 7 Corners Hardware store which closed a few years ago. Those small town type hardware stores had a mystique about them. They always seemed to have everything I've ever wanted, and there was some 90 year old guy in there that knew just where every single item was located off the top of his head. There's still one near where I grew up and when my folks were still alive, when I went down to see them, I always did my pilgrimage to Whannel's Hardware and look around and buy a couple of things. Unfortunately it's 250 miles there so it's not an easy stop-in. I still have one small local hardware store around here which I do business with. Not as good as the others but definitely better than the big box stores most of the time.

You will miss it, it's a dying breed.

We had a similar thing happen here . . . Best hardware store for miles - had just about any hardware you could dream of in loose bins for good prices. Almost any appliance part . . . Pretty much a certainty that if they didn't have it, you won't find it in the city. Then, between the landlord really jacking the rent, and the owner getting old and wanting out, it was sold to a chain, and now it's the same useless crap you can find anywhere, with *zero* of the stuff that made it good.

Not sure how the new owners consider that "progress", but it is what it is . . .

The hardware store closest to my home closed a few years ago. We lost the convenience of having this store around for emergencies for a little bit higher price than the big ones.

Now the closest one is much further in the city, a big chain that lacks the human touch.

Our "neighborhood" store is an ACE Hardware store, which does well for what I need it for. We also have 2 Home Depots and 1 Lowe's within a 10 mile radius. There is also another smaller mom n pop ACE about 5 miles away, I like going there too.

Slowly all the independent hardware store are closing.
I have a Home Hardware close by, which is part of a chain of Home Hardware stores, but I am concerned that it too, will close.
Like someone mentioned, I don't know how they get all their stuff into a small space.
Todd maybe you will have to travel a little further to find another hardware store.
