BBQ parts question

Every BBQ i have ever put together has this small chain and wire thingy attached. what the heck is it for ??? ( its purpose may have been noted in every one of the instruction papers , but i skip reading those !)

24 " 1967? Ariens Sno thro
28 " Ariens Sno Tek
Toro CCR ss
1966 Gravely LI Walk behind with dog eater

Match holder for lighting the burner if the igniters fail.

that would have been forward thinking by the mfgs ! them there mind altering cigs are gunna be legal up here very soon !

If it's a gas grill also may be the tool to ream the burner tubes. That's to get any bugs that may make a home in them.
