The 1 in the capital city closed 4 good on sunday. and the 1 at the Mall of america closes in march.

That's too bad. They were the original Amzon, they helped build this country. Order a house, it comes as a kit, and you have a place to live. The Sears and Roebuck Catalog had a massive influence in American society. It's really a shame.

Unfortunately, they never moved forward with the times.

Interestingly, the Sears "Homecenter" here appears to be thriving, selling snowblowers, appliances and tools mainly. The manager claimed that they had been spun off into a separate company and were not affected . . . . wee will see. It was clean, well maintained, and very well stocked . . . and pretty much carries the stuff I bought from Sears.

nearest one of those to me is 94 miles away in Oneonta, NY wonder if that name will survive now

i meant the store name. sears hardware nearby are long gone, one became a petco the other a tractor supply.

The talk on the Street, Eddie Lambert, Chairman, ruined Sears, didn't listen to "experts".

Glad someone bought Craftsman tools for a place to exchange them, Ace hardware and Lowe's. Actually Stanley Black & Decker leased the name for 10 yrs with Sears having the option at that time to buy it back.
