Snow Sunday and the results

We got out 2d measurable snow yesterday, and it was exciting. Taking the daughter to work Sunday afternoon going slow I might add. Major street (2 lanes in either direction), I'm in the outside lane while the inside lane was slowing due to someone turning left. There was a U-Haul truck in the inside lane and as my front bumper was between the bumper and the rear wheel, they pull into my lane - no signals, no warning, no nothing. Hit the horn, over the curb, barely missed a street sign and don't know how I hit the light pole but I did (thank you God!). They clinked me and took off.
Got up along side her, honking the horn, waving etc so what does she do - takes off. While the daugher has the police on the phone, we're giving them a blow by blow where this person is going and how she's driving, weaving through traffic in a U-Haul truck no less (her, not me - wasn't too hard to keep her in sight without putting anyone in danger, I was driving under the speed limit, using signals etc and checking before switching lanes). About a little more than a mile down the street she cuts a left-turn arrow turning red and heads up the ramp to the interstate. No way could I make the light so I stopped, guess what, a guy behind me didn't slow up and runs into my hitch on my back bumper (did I mention the light was red when I stopped and he clipped me).
Remember the daughter was on the phone with the police, they tell her to come up the ramp, they got the U-Haul and driver. The guy that tail-ended me, followed. I wonder if he thought I was going to pay for his bent license because he said I caused him to rear-end me Remember, red light - supposed to stop as not a green arrow for a left turn at that time.

After about 10-15 minutes there with the police, they sent us on our way but said they had more with the U-Haul driver and problems with her license?

Run me off the street almost into a light pole and take off - I'll do my best to see them brought to justice. It wasn't alot of damage, it was the principle of the incident. Thankfully this was in my one F150, I don't think the TBird would have fared as well.

Sound like someone inexperienced in a U-haul. They should have stopped though! I have to say that was enough excitement for one day. Hope you get everything fixed up if it was damaged.

Yeah, what happened to that guy?

Glad no one was hurt, and hopefully the damage wasn't serious.

I'm pretty much retired from the forum thing, but I check in every now and then.

Well he did nothing to my hitch, but he did bend the license plate, broke the holder and put a tear of around 1.5"-2" in the bumper cover on a very new Chevy (what he and his buddy were in). He was young enough he'll have to explain it to his Dad or lease/insurance company, plus his info I'm sure the policeman put on the accident report (saw the policeman collecting info from him and the policeman said it was all on the report). I figure the financial shock will put him in the iCU, since he did it to himself I just chuckle ever so often and imagine him trying to explain how it happened. I'm not sadistic, everyone was young and stupid at one time, he just got a hard lesson and it should be on the police report ;-)
