Buying from a Shopping Mall

You simply attach the return label and drop off at the nearest UPS or FEDEX box. It's hard enough to buy OPE and get it fixed. Imagine a $100K battery powered nitemare?
Bad move Gov Christie. Franchise laws are in place to make it easy to have a vehicle serviced with a network of trained employees, with equipment to test and repair, parts in stock, no matter where you are. They say history repeats itself.. you just lost my Republican vote..asshat.

Whats the problem with it?
Tesla has service centers, same as any other auto brand.
im not seeing anything wrong with it.

Tesla has only 1 service center in NJ. The franchise laws were made many years ago to force so called manufactures to have a net work of repair centers with trained and experienced personnel.

So Tesla sells cars from the mall, it's like buying a snowblower from HD. We all know what a nitemare that can be.

Happy motoring!

Hmmm..I see your point, but a Tesla is hardly in the same catagory as a Home Depot snowblower!
Apples and oranges..
People who can afford a Tesla aren't going to have any problems sending it away for service..and while its away they can just drive one of their 10 other vehicles..I'm not too concerned about the service woes of Tesla owners! I'm sure they won't have major problems getting help..and they are generally high quality vehicles too..yes, they have had a few issues, so does anything..but overall they are better quality than most average vehicles..

Hmm... My nephew just took delivery of his brand spankin' new Tesla a couple weeks ago. He is the owner of the second Tesla in the whole state of Wv. He's coming for a visit soon and he promised me I could take it for a spin. He says it's wicked fast. He's nat too concerned about service. He says part of the deal is they'll pick it up anywhere and deliver it back when service is complete.

Garage
It's not like buying the dreaded "Stanley" from HomeDepot where there isn't anyone out there in the real world to support it.
You are buying a quality vehicle like an Ariens and there is a parts and service network out there to service your purchase.

As for the nightmare, have you ever bought a car at a dealership and then tried to return it ?? They don't do refunds. They sell tinting, undercoating, monogrammed floor mats, ... but if you want your money back you'll likely need a court order.
Bring it in for service and try to just get what you brought it in for done, ... good luck with that.

I think it's a great way for them to reach more people as long as part of the sales pitch doesn't include that service can be found everywhere.
Someone buying an electric already has a pretty good idea there are limitations.

When I bought my Triumph Motorcycle in Maine, there was only 1 dealer/service center in the entire state of Maine! And Maine is MUCH bigger than New Jersey. Sorry, I don't see what the issue is.
