Stihl out of ACE

I think it was two years ago I purchased a stihl chainsaw from ace, I never owned a stihl saw but figured it was better than the poulan I had that never ran great. I ran into ace yesterday and noticed the sign off the building. I asked the kid at register what happened, he said stihl is out and they will be carrying husquarvana. I guess stihl will be strictly dealers only.
Side note my stihl leaks bar oil, like empties the tank! I took it back to ace they said they replaced something but didn't know what it was!? Maybe this is why they left ace? Still leaks, I'd try echo next time

Stihl makes nice saws. I bought one earlier this year. The cut is amazing.

Looks like there's a number of Stihl dealerships on Long Island. I'd give one of them a try. Here's their dealer locator page. Just type in Long Island.

http://www.stihlusa.com/locator/

I'm pretty much retired from the forum thing, but I check in every now and then.

The saw works well, no question, ms211c, I believe. The oil thing is annoying and I've contacted stihl about it and was told they all drip a little. I'm more curious as to why the partnership between ace and stihl is no more. Someone wasnt happy.
My property is 60'x90' and I've cut down every tree on it, just need the saw to help out friends and neighbors. There's a dealer 10 mins away if I need him, hopefully not.

Stihl was the only powered equipment I'd consider buying at Ace. They make the best chain saws out there hands down and they had a great line of string trimmers as well. I have an old beat up Echo string trimmer that I was able to rescue off of craigslist, it has been used hard, but put in a new carb and fuel lines and trimmer head and it runs just fine.

My guess would be the Ace customer base isn't as likely to spend more for the quality Stihl. If they had a shelf of Poulan or Homelite they'd likely sell more.
Could also be that Husquarvana was able to offer then to Ace with a deeper discount.
After all money talks.

That was my observation, too, when shopping for a saw earlier this year. And there's little to no discounting on that brand. Something like Poulan or equivalent makes more sense in a store like Ace Hdwe.

I have a Newer Husky that also leaks a lot of bar oil, the dealer who also deals in Ariens said it could be the bar oil I am using and suggested that I use Husky bar oil. I have not tried this yet to see if this would help with the leaking bar oil issue.
