Welcome to SBF Dkb. I'll keep an eye out on my local CL and ads for you. Have you tried searching with http://www.adhuntr.com/?

I took a quick look. A lot of them don't mention the model number, but there's a fair number of them that say they're 8HP and 26".

Like this one in Niles.

This one is up near Madison.

An ST826 just north of Milwaukee.

I'm pretty much retired from the forum thing, but I check in every now and then.

Welcome to the forum.

I did some parts trading with a guy west of Minneapolis that 'might' have the model you're looking for. I sent you a PM with his email. Good luck and let us know if you find what you need or not.

Dkb,
Have you tried using searchtempest? You can set price, location and other parameters'and do a search over a wide area.
Here is screenshot I took of simply typing in "Gilson" in searchtempest.

I've got this New Holland made by Gilson, which is basically a rebadged Unitrol. I would sell it if you are interested but I'm in Pa. It is Briggs 8HP 26" and runs like a top. There's a thread in repairs where I got it running. It's been converted to electronic ignition, carb cleaned, magneto gap set, new fuel line, filter, shutoff, and gas tank changed. The tires and belts are good, and I'd throw in a spare belt bought new for it. the oil has been changed in the gearbox and engine, and the drive system greased. good to go this year.

there's nothing wrong with it, just that I went on a hunt looking for a gear drive Gilson and ended up finding a gear drive and unitrol. Being it was 8HP I brought it home. It's a powerful machine.

I'd let it go at a reasonable price, considering all the work I did to it. it starts on the first or second pull every time.
