Yard Machine Snow Blower ID

I picked up this 30inch 10hp snow thrower and want to start the refurbishment process. Can someone ID it and provide the mdl #? The bottom plate which would hold this info is missing.

Thanks!

There should be an ID sticker on it down low on the tractor housing....... usually the back of the unit

I am deathly allergic to shovels!

Ok, first of all, this probably should be in the MTD forum because it is a Yard Machines, not a Yard-Man, but, no worries. You may never get the exact model, but this method should get you close.

1. Get the engine model and serial number and go to the Tecumseh website and the ESN should get you a date of manufacture. if it is before June, it's DOM probably coincides with the model year of the machine. if it is after September, it is probably the next year. in any case, you will have it narrowed down to two model years.

2. Use this link to look at the parts breakdown for 10 HP machines for those two model years. Given that this is an MTD, many parts will be common and interchangeable. Lawn Mower Parts | Parts Look Up Diagrams Online | Fast Shipping

3. Document the models you've found and look for common parts. Using those models, you should find what you're looking for.

4. Also find yourself a local outdoor power equipment dealer with a boneyard. Then I would definitely get yourself a previously enjoyed belly pan so as to protect the transmission vitals from the weather.

Hope this helps.

I can't say for sure that this is it, but with just matching the dash, this as close as I could come:

Garage:
MTD....2 stage(modern 8.5 HP) not my favorite
Honda HS622 TA-B - acquired at an auction- nice machine for it's size.
Toro S-140- Picked it up on trash day... it runs, sort of.
Yamaha YS 240 TB "Ricky" latest Craigslist find- on the bench now.
