Anyway, this winter half way through a storm the spring broke for the drive pulley tensioner. The belt is now loose with the drive handle compressed or not. So, it's not the friction...
Used SNO-AWAY 5 refurbish project underway, and I'm not sure I'll be able to rehab the impeller. A couple of blades are pretty badly bent. Nothing available on eBay, and a new replacement is $200, which is a non-starter.
