I purchased a Ariens Delux 28 last fall $1060 with tax, I really don't like the auto steering I adjusted then the dealer adjusted still hard to cut a straight line also seems like the design has too much weight on the skids causing the auto steer to kick with the slightest of offset drag on one side compared to the other.

I am not looking at a Cub Cadet 528SWE $750 used very little due to health of owner. Thinking of buying this one and selling the Ariens. I think I will like the chute and turn levers as I did use a buddies Toro last year with these features.

Any input??

I was planning some sort of mod for the skids come next fall, then a co-worker has this cub for sale and started thinking maybe buy this and sell the Ariens?

If the steering kick can be fixed the Ariens is a nice machine. I'd hate to have you get stuck with the Ariens and paying for different skids and then still have the kick.

If you bought the Cub as a backup but found the Ariens "cured" do you think you could flip it for the same cash you would have to pay for it ??

OR . . . toss in the towel on the Ariens, buy the Cub and try to sell the Ariens for what the Cub will cost you so it's an even trade (or close) if you like the Cubs features more.

Never hurts to have a plan B :hope:

Yea was thinking/hoping if I picked up the cub sell the ariens for about the same so it would be a wash, would more than likely need to wait until first snow to sell and it may be a hard sell in that price range.

$750 seems kind of high for what is just a deluxe model MTD. If you have the room you could get 5 - 10 older machines for that price that need a little bit of work. Are you able to fix simple things?

Being almost summer now you should be able to find really good deals. A lot of people have scored near new different model Toro, Ariens and Simplicity machines for under $500 just by buying off season.

A Toro might be a better bargain if you can find one if you want controls like the Cub Cadet.
