Hi everyone,

I live near Milwaukee WI so we get our fair share of large snowfalls from year to year. I don’t have a ton to do, probably 75-100ft of sidewalk and a short 2-car driveway that’s around 25ft long.

A lot of people have recommended Sinplicity, Ariens and Toro brandfor used snowblowers. I also saw an article from popular mechanic where they recommended the HP to width ratio to be at least 0.25:1 (meaning 1HP per 4”).

I know I want a 2 starge with a 4 cycle engineer but other than that I’m not too sure what to check for.

I’ve read a few threads on Ariens where people asked for the serial to check age. Is there a guide or date code with the serial or some website to check it out?

thanks

a 24" machine would likely do the job but you may want to get a larger one with a 8hp engine or some like a 208cc or larger engine. while the 5hp engines try their best and don't usually stall bog enough that they just don't throw the snow very far.
