I was getting my Ariens compact 22 (920012) ready for off season. Changed the oil and decided to pull the belt cover and check the belts. I found the auger / attachment belt frayed. This is a new machine and I did do the belt break in procedure. The belt didn't seem out of adjustment and I didn't have any problems throwing snow this winter. I put on a new belt just to be safe and watched it while the belt cover was off and it seemed to run true as I did the new belt run in. I looked the old belt over and it showed fraying on both sides, but not bad. The other belt shows no wear at all. Any ideas, or is this just normal wear? I'm saving the old belt. By the way, changing the auger belt on this machine is real easy.
