Recently I picked up 2 used older model Ariens snowblowers, (1032 & 824) & when I was doing some TLC to them I discovered the 824 had a 40" belt on it. Well I ordered a new belt per the number it had on the old belt and sure enough, it was a 40" belt. Prior to this I've used my other 824 Ariens over 25 years & I was told the belts were 36"....why in the world did I not investigate since I've got 2 other machines to look at for comparison? Anyhow, my question is...has anyone used bigger primary pulleys to take up this longer belt? When I look at the belts available on the Ariens pdf parts list they do in fact offer 2 belt numbers..the 36" & 40". So why did this occur? Did Ariens use a bigger pulley on the blower side or motor? All my pulleys on all 3 of my machines are identical. Your response is appreciated.
