Can anyone help me? The Auger brake material for the pullie needs to be changed. What type of material do they use?
Machine is a Yardman Snowbird-1977

Hello BGM...

I have a 87 Snow wolf 33" that is basically the same setup as yours. I did a semi quick restoration/paint job on this summer. I have the same problem,however I did not tackle it yet as it works ok with out the brake.

When I do get around to a full restore I plan on using a piece of v belt and drill appropriately then rivet on. Not sure what was originally used and cant tell by your pix. I think a slightly oversize piece of belt will work ok as it just stops on top of the pully using friction. Just my thoughts-Tony

Going to try a few types of brake material. Will let you know what works best.
