Hello- I have an older Craftsman 22". Last winter the auger shaft every now and then would slip out of one of the two side plastic bushing pieces. I tried bending the frame sides more inward do decrease the space so there wasn't as much play but that didn't work. Do the make the plastic bushing pieces with taller walls so the shaft can't jump out? Even though its an older snowblower everything seems to be in great shape with no major wear.

Thanks for the help.

MTD blowers are known for that. I had to take the auger and impeller assembly out of one and bend both sides of the shell in. You can't bend it in enough to make a tight fit without taking the pieces out since it springs back some when you let go.

If you have the tools to do it you might be able to drill a hole into the center of the shaft from the sides and tap it for a bolt and a large washer. That is how the Ariens blowers used to come from the factory.

A bar clamp would work well for this.
