I have a Craftsman single stage (247.887802) that is only one year old. The issue I'm having is that the snowblower seems to run fine for the first 5-10 minutes, but after that, the auger starts stalling out. During this time, the engine runs perfectly fine and shows no sign of stress. It gets so bad at time that I haven't been able to get through even an inch or two of snow at that point, even when I was cutting through 4-5 inches just minutes prior. Once I get to this stalling period, I can sometimes lift the auger off the ground and it will hesitatingly start back up (very slow ramp up) only to stall after another foot or two of pushing through shallow snow. The only thing I can think of that would be stress or heat degraded would be a bearing or sleeve of some sort, but the only one I'm aware of would be between the auger and pulley (between the housing). I'm not sure I'm even barking up the right tree here. Anyone care to throw some ideas out? Very frustrated with this thing being only a year old and only having been used 5-6 times in total. Much appreciated!

get a new belt, and install it per the manual. then adjust the cable to spec. ( also clean the pulleys with brake clean etc)

Thanks! It was next on my list, I just couldn't get myself to do it with the belt being less than 5 uses old. When you say adjust cable to spec, where would I find that info?

Welcome to SBF Nutrunner. I would pull the nut off the auger pulley and make sure the star pattern hasn't been rounded off the shaft or pulley. A new belt would be a good idea even though it is only a year old. Good luck.
