Hello everyone,

Seems I am the luck owner of a Craftsman snowblower with a Hilliard Autolok differential. This is a small bidirectional locking system. The wheel axels fit into splines one on each side of the assembly.
I've attached two pictures, one of the assembled unit and one with the pieces spread out. There are small U shaped springs the tension the locking rollers/cams and most of them have broken.
I've tried contacting Hilliard with no success and since the replacement parts is $400 to $550, its not worth replacing.
Other than this, the blower works well.
Just wondering if anyone has any experience with these and if so, any recommendations on alternate fixes as well as lubrication of the assembly.
Thanks in advance for any help.
Hope everyone has a great 2023

Sincerely,
Jim Brooks

Thanks, I just hate throwing stuff away like this. I could run a bolt through it but sheesh. All I need are a few of these springs.

A quick look brought to mind what they could be made out of. Although the ones I’ve seen are too narrow a rewind spring comes up. A long ribbon spring could be cut into the bits you need. Amazingly it came up on eBay as a part for a Hatachi nailer. It must be a nail feed component. No idea of dimensions from pix. So such things exist.

I was going to try tape from a broken tape.measure. time will tell how it works out. Too bad the manufacturer won't supply the parts. Thanks for the suggestion
