New, oil changed because it was contaminated with water as delivered. Still never used, warmed up several times since, total of 1 hour Opperation. Decided to add oil change valve and so I drained the oil again and was surprised it was black not amber!
Any one care to suggest a possible reason?

Ps. I checked my Big rear tine tiller which hasn’t had an oil change in 2 years and it’s oil was clear Amber!!!***

One of the things that could be contributing is the fact that it is brand new and the rings remain unseated as well as other wear in parts such as valve guides and seals. Normally after the break in time this tends to change and oil remains cleaner longer.

The new oil was still clearing contaminants. Next change should come out cleaner *fingers crossed*

The first couple of oil changes on my Simplicity Signature Pro were not that dark , but had a lot of metallic particles in it when held up to the sun.
