BobCat T8-2-28-6797 (8HP - 2 Stage - 28inch)
B&S Model: 190452 Type: 0752-01 Code: 73061111

I just picked up this Bobcat from someone on Craigslist.

This is the 8HP 28" big brother to my other Bobcat which is a 7HP 24".

Says "Commercial" on the auger bucket.
The bucket on this bigger machine is 28" wide and 24" tall.

The smaller brother is 24" wide and 18" tall.

I don't really know what I have yet because it's dark outside.
At first glance it looks to be in very good shape with no rust.

Apparently the engine runs well but has a small gas leak somewhere.
Hopefully that will be the fuel lines or carburetor and not the gas tank.

I was also told that the forward drive is a little "jumpy" or "lumpy".
I have not started it yet to find out what he meant by that.

Finally working on my 3 bobcats.

This 8HP Commercial needed a weld on the 90 degree bracket on the transmission where the auger bucket bolts on.
There are 4 large bolts (1/2 inch diameter) that hold the auger bucket in place.
The previous owner did not realize when one fell out. It's hard to imagine how one could fall out... but it was certainly missing.
Because of the missing bolt, the constant twisting and torquing of the heavy bucket caused the bracket to fail along the bend (which is the weak spot).
Pictures added to album showing the weld to repair that.
Not the prettiest weld but it's hidden when assembled and for $20 I'm not complaining.
Putting this back together alone was tricky.. it's very very heavy!!

The machine is now 100% operational.
Carb worked on, everything is lubed, oil changed in the engine and the reduction gearcase.
The "jumpiness" of the transmission (reported by the previous owner) was just his misunderstanding of how these Bobcats operate (especially in "fast" gear).
There are basically 2 speeds forwards and 2 speeds reverse. (aka fast & slow). In fast gear, it goes from 0 to 60 in 0.1 seconds. ;-)
Adjusting the cable for the "drive" idler pulley calms that down a little.
