when I was changing the auger belt on my blower I noticed the little brake pad thing that stops the auger pulley when you release the auger lever is damaged .It is held on with 2 rivets and one of those is loose and the pad it self is broken.

This is an 80s vintage machine (yardman) . I have the parts manual but it is not listed as a part with a replacement.

Does any body have any ideas to replace this or should I just remove it ?

thanks

I wouldn't worry about it - but if you want it to have the brake you could rivet a new pad on there if need be. I would use a chunk of thick leather if you can't find anything else.

Thanks for the input

The Model is 31600-0.

It had a 5hp Tecumseh that was still running but was getting a bit tired. I replaced it with a 212 predator a couple of years ago.

This spring I plan to do some restoration to it. Sand down and paint the bucket ,new drive belt, friction wheel, possibly some new tires/wheels, some shrouding on the predator engine, impeller kit etc.

It is a very well built machine.

Yes I think it is MTD. It took a lot of searching but I did find a PDF copy of the original manual and parts list on line .
