I wasn't getting quite enough rotation out of the chute so I ground 3 extra teeth on each end of the rack. I hope the short tooth doesn't cause an issue, and it all works out.

I used a die grinder with a cut off wheel to rough them in and then finished the teeth up with a file. I made up a small template to lay the tooth pattern out.

I'm planning to do that, too. You could always get someone to tap a little weld on the short teeth and grind them back to size...

I thought about spotting a weld on the tooth as well but decided to give it a try and see if it's necessary. I was a little concerned that the weld might break or I would get my heat a little hot and make matters worse. If the short tooth causes problems I'll give it a try.

Installed and tested. The short tooth does not create a problem and including the short tooth that's 4 extra teeth. I now get about 15 degrees of added rotation in each direction. I won't know until next winter whether that will be enough.
