I have had this blower for about 4 years and have only used it handful of times. Recently while using it i heard a loud bang and the blower stalled . I realized there wasnt much oil in it if any at all. I left the engine cool down and put oil it in. The engine doesnt seemed to be seized up but then is no resistance when pulling the starting cable, I did pull it one fairly hard and it made a back firing sound. This blower also has electric start but i did not try using that yet until I heard back from some others.

I pulled the cord several times and the engine just backfires with a little smoke coming out of the engine.

I read about the fly wheel key and other parts but I was not sure I have attached some pictures too

It sounds like you may have to pull the flywheel and inspect that key.
Wondering if the engine temporarily seized and damaged/sheared the key.
Just seems it wouldn't free itself up again but maybe it did when it cooled down.

How much oil did you need to add to bring it back to full ?? What engine ??

The combination of very little compression resistance (presumably less than you're used to for this engine), low oil and no-start suggests to me possible piston, ring and/or cylinder wall damage due to oil starvation & overheating.

You heard a bang so K4aF may be onto something with the theory that the piston did seize momentarily causing the key to shear. I worry that you actually have two problems now: little compression and a sheared key.

Are you getting a sense of any sort of kick-back when trying to start it? That can be a sign of advanced spark timing (as happens when the key shears...)
