Craftsman 26" 243cc vs Ariens Deluxe 24"

Hello, I am looking at buying a new snowblower to replace my 25 year old MTD. The 2 I am looking at are the Craftsman 26-in 243 CC ( https://www.lowes.ca/product/gas-snow-blowers/craftsman-26-in-243-cc-2-stage-snow-blower-3746127) or a Ariens Deluxe 24-in.

I know that most people recommend Ariens over craftsman however the price difference is pretty steep. Double the price for the Ariens.

Where I am located the price difference is $899.99 CDN for the craftsman or 1799.99 CDN for the Ariens.

I have a mid size drive way with lots of lake effect snow, in what is considered a "snow belt".

Thanks.

Hello, thanks Smokie.
I'm located North West of Barrie, ON, on Lake Huron.
You could add that to your profile (in "Location") so you don't have to repeat it in new threads (y)
Top right, click on avatar then Account Details, then Account Settings,
Then in Location field, your city.

As Ziggy said (as he lives up that way)-sort of 😉 ) , I would 2nd the ariens delux 24 (as it does have a great engine). Not had much if any snow down this way (even yesterday was not enough to put gas in my 24 for the first time this season.
...also the ariens dont show on the lowes site anymore, hope you got one if you wanted one lol
Wot he said

When did that happen?
NOT close to you but '23 models in Ottawa so may need to look at independents and not big box?? Rona same as HD.
@tfox12 get it while you can. And don't forget spare parts that you won't need now but may down the road (especially shear bolts)
Comes with TWO extra on the 2020. Maybe newer models don't. 🤷‍♂️ you still got a spring clearance price (what I paid 2 year ago (y) .

On mine they're here (your pic though, mine looks different)

Try Lowes for bolts ($10 for 3). IIRC, "dealer" wanted $30 for 3.

You got a good machine. Now go blow some snow 😁

We have about 2" of powderly/wettish stuff so far.

Thanks! Just checked the area you pointed out to see if the pins were there and there definitely is a spot for them there. Someone must have removed them with it being a floor unit. Oh well, for the price I can't complain to much about missing a couple spare bolts.
When I went looking for spares (before I found them hidden in a forgotten space in the store), the slsman joke-ing-ly (?)suggested I "just take these" off a floor model.

Mebbee???
Oh, one last thing: try to only use non-ethanol premium gas (Can Tire or Shell) . You'll be thankful you did (y)

and then the usual--check all the bolts are tight, there is sufficient oil, yada yada yada :ROFLMAO: before firing 'er up (y)

Ya, let them fix the issue. Don't you start fiddling with it.

Got this one last year on the suggestion of @tabora (?) but have not had a chance to use it yet. Significantly less $$ than lock n lube but..?
