I am pretty well decided I'm going to be buying a new Ariens snowblower relatively soon. I've been using an Ariens Snotek for the last 10 years...its done the job well for the mose part, struggled with heavy/wet snow.

Im looking for people with experience with the current models...

Deluxe 24 921045
Deluxe 28 921046
Deluxe 28 SHO 921048
Platinum 24 SHO 921050
Platinum 30 SHO 921051

Looking for a machine that won't have too much trouble with the heavy plow pushback at the bottom of the driveway. The only issue I had with my old machine was when there would be real wet heavy snow from the plow...it only has the 208cc LCT engine in it. I'm stuck on which model I should buy..

I'm pretty set on 24" being big enough as my driveway is only 20 ft by 20 ft with a 30 ft by 6 ft walkway along the side. Is the bigger engine in the Platinum that much better then the Deluxe?

Just basically looking for recommendations based on first hand experience with either of these models.

Got a 28"Deluxe+ Ariens, my workhorse for big snowfalls. It just takes everything and spits it out like a champ.
Since you set on 24", you just answer your own question.24 SHO will be the answer for you, wont bog down and will chew and spit everything out with out a sweat.

I believe that the problem of heavy wet slush clogging the discharge chute will happen regardless of how big an engine is powering the snowblower. The clearance between the impeller vane tips and the impeller housing dictates how likely it will become clogged. I still like a bigger engine
