Good morning all. Getting ready for the new season I repainted my rusty 724E with rust oleum Allis Chalmers Orange. I re did the skid plates on both sides. My carriage bolts are rusty and I want to install new. Should I be using Galvanized bolts on the metal body or regular zinc plated bolts? Thanks in advance

@Gta,

Just wire wheel them and shoot them black, silver or orange. No need to buy new. You probably have some orange spray left anyways.

If you feel you want to get new I always try to get Stainless as they do not rust.

Galvanized bolts are zinc coated... To galvanize is to coat the part in zinc. As mentioned stainless will be less susceptible to rust than regular galv bolts because the coating does wear off and they will eventually rust.

I bought a box of 100 quality regular carriage bolts from Bolt Depot for cheap. I put Never-Seize in them. If they rust, who cares, they'll snap off.
