I have the same problem with needing the gears for this machine. Did you find anything in Canada or elsewhere? What is the part number for the gears?

 

Cannot find your exact model number, but checking multiple MTD models, a lot seem to use part B14 from this site

Seems the part number you need possibly is Genuine MTD SHAFT-HEX 8125 HEX 7 TOOTH 917-04209A Replaces 717-04209A 717-04209

Hey Guys, judging by these posts, this is a 2005 model year machine? And you are looking for one gear? If so, I now have 2 of these headaches, and it seems as tho it is a single year design. Apparently not a very hardy design, and there is an update kit available. Pricey kit, but, looks as if it contains 2 gears, shaft, bearings, bushings and clips. Better value than one $68 gear.
