In 1978 Ransomes Sims and Jefferies Ltd of Ipwich England (a commercial reel type manufacturer with 3000 employees) purchased 34% of Wisconsin Marine and provide a half million dollars in working capital. Scag still owned 64 % and the plant employees the remaining 2%. In 1979 the company produced 10 rotary mowers from 3.5 hp push mower with 12 inch cut to a 19.5 hp commercial riding mower. Prices ranged from $200 to $5000 in 3 plants in Lake Mills and 1 in Helenville. In 1979 the company purchased 40 acres from the city at $800 per acre and built a consolidating plant.
In 1981 the Crary company acquired the snowblower line and produced the Bear Cat .Tecumseh engines replaced the Briggs and Stratton and a Peerless transmission replaced the chain drive. Crary became part of TerraMarc in 1999. In 2005 the Crary division was sold to Echo.
In 2008 the Bear Cat designs and tooling were sold to J R Power Products of Shelburne Ontario Box 159 and the snowthrowers were produced under the Bear Paw name.In 2004 Wight's Small Engines in Barrie Ontario were selling them for $2028. J R Power Products no longer is there.
