Hello, I am trying to figure out what is happening with my Honda Hss928a. It's two seasons old. At the end of last season the machine stoped moving forward. It would only move in reverse. I was able to diagnose the issue as being the "cable change" part. It's the cable that runs out of the bottom of the hydrostatic control lever that controls the forward/reverse motion and speed. I noticed the cable was crimped so when I would engage the lever forward it won't actually move the cable it just bends right below the control lever. I got a new cable and changed it out. It worked great for a minute then the cable crimped again. This time it crimped the opposite way so now I only have forward drive. It seems as if the tension on the cable is to tight so it can't operate freely. Having forward is better than reverse only because I can at least clear snow now but I want to figure out what is going on and make it work properly. I bought the snowblower at a shop about 15 min away from my place so service would be easy, only to find out the place closed permanently 3 months later because the shop owner retired.
Any thoughts on what could be causing the cable to not move freely and chasing it to crimp. Thanks for any help or ideas.

I am not sure what the problem is. It may need neutral adjustment position. Pictures would be helpful. I have taken a photo of the Honda HSS928 shop manual so you can adjust the neutral position and recommend that you buy one on Amazon. Click on these photos to make them bigger.

. Thanks. I tried to add some pictures. Not sure how great its going to be. I also did try adjusting the neutral position from the pics of the manual you posted. I tried it a few different ways but It doesn't seem to effect the way the cable seems to bend instead of pushing through. Is there any type of adjustment on the other end of the cable that would effect it? Thanks for you help. I would love to be able to take it into a service center but I don't have any way of getting it there because I don't have a pickup truck anymore. The closest service center is about an hour away and they charge a pretty hefty fee to pickup and return the snowblower....
I would love to be able to get my hands on a service manual but I am having a difficult time finding one to order online. Thanks again

you can get the manual directly from Honda. Honda Power Equipment.

the manual shows the correct routing.of the cable. pictures look like the cable is being held up for some reason.

How about taking some photos to a tech where you bought it, and see if he'll offer some insights. Stinks that it comes with a warranty, yet it is so difficult to cash in on it. If a place offered free pickup/return, they could dominate the local sales market.
