I built a set of 1" thick nylon skids (shoes) for a Ariens last year and am now making another pair for another that has wider bolt slots. Before I cut the slots then man-handled a wider wood bit in drill press to get a recess for bolts to ride in.. Is their a accual bit or tool for cutting recesses in slots for the nuts to be recessed in? Got to be better way than wood bit! Thanks

Maybe a Forstner bit? Either that or a router bit. If you're simply drilling a recess Forstner is the way to go.

Yes! That is right but it depend on what you accomplish.

Are you just making a simple counter bore? If so, the Fostner bit is perfect and simple.

Or

are you trying to drag the counter bore along a through slot. If so you need the router bit and something to act like a router table.

Take a picture of a good example of what you are trying to make and post it.
