I know it's a 2 stroke and all, but you should be able to get that thing to burn much cleaner....with more power
I filled the crank case with motor oil to make sure everything was coated before firing it up. It was puking oil all over and smoking like a tire fire, but when it hit the power band it was running really well.

This unit is nearly 50 years old and it’s fun to marvel at the engineering that went into it. I have some 3mm galvanized sheet steel that will be cut and welded in order to rebuild the auger.

That explains the huge puddle of oil under the exhaust pipe at the end of the video.

Awesome machine, really unique.
That beast will get your neighbours attention.

That is one bad-ass snowblower! Those tires are awesome. Seeing how fast that auger spins, it's going to be a great slush-pumper too.

I'm speculating whether or not that blocked off crankcase has been re-purposed to be a lubricating oil reservoir. The red oil would then be 2-stroke oil. An oil pump or maybe just a small orifice is used to meter oil into the crankcase of the active cylinder...

Do you want to sell it? (y)

One of the unique things I found was the cylinder that’s blocked off has the the crank case filled with red oil (transmission fluid?). It looks to have both drain and fill holes drilled into some bosses.

The oil in the blocked off side is just there to lube that side of the crank. It’s sealed off from the other side. The other side gets its lubrication from the premix.
As far as selling it goes; I guess everything is for sale given the right price.
Obviously this is a rare unit since I just posted only the second video of one running on the entire internet.

The auger has a disc that cuts the snow as it moves forward. It’s missing the one on the right hand side (likely from striking an object). I am planning on rebuilding the auger and cleaning it up before putting away for the summer. View attachment 210012

Hey I can see it was used but no video of it throwing snow yet? Man what a tease! 😀

Make sure the dogs in the house when your blowin with that one!!!! Can’t wait to see it working. I like how they sent the 2 stroke exhaust down to your feet! May not have to breath it down there……

Action? - here you go!

I plan to do a walk-around video sometime soon too.
OK, a few questions:
Is the auger gear standard 10:1 reduction?
If it is, judging by the massive forward ejection, then that impeller is moving quite a bit faster than 1500rpm
What is the engine rpm and pulley reduction ratio to the clutch? These would be useful in determining impeller tip speed.
You need to figure out a way to reduce auger rotation speed to improve clearing efficiency....at those engine speeds and gear you are essentially doing the work twice as so much spills out of the front of the machine.
