They take no prisoners. I was wondering why they didn't payloader it into the dump truck to haul it to the river. That's what the blower is for. They were using one in the next town on a side street. They pushed it into a one lane road with the other side 4' high snowbank. Then just went along in tandem with the truck and blower working together.

Reminds me of a story from the infamous Buffalo blizzard of '77..
Buffalo is a major railroad center, second only to Chicago in the US..
Buffalo is jammed with many railroads and big railroad yards..a lot of track to clear out..

After the '77 blizzard all that snow had to go somewhere..
The railroads loaded up empty coal cars with snow, using payloaders like in that video..
They loaded hundreds, probably thousands of cars with snow..
assembled the cars into long trains, then sent them on a trip down south..
the snow slowly melted away as the cars took a stroll down south, then retured back north empty,
ready to go back to work hauling coal again..

that is one **** of a picture. never saw anything like that truck/snowblower. pretty good shot of main st germany also.

Hi,

that truck-snow-thro is a Mercedes-Benz UNIMOG, Typ: 406. The manufacturer of the attached snow-thro seems to be Schmidt.

On the platform of the Unimog there is an additional Diesel-Engine to power only the snow-thro!
The truckengine itself is about 80 hp and has not enough power to work both, truck and snow-thro.

In the bavarian alps it is quite normal to clean town roads by trucks in combination with Unimog-snow-thros such as those shown on driz´s fotos.
In Germany it´s not allowed to dump snow into the rivers ;). So they have to load it on trucks an cary it to central dump-sites.

Greetings from Inzell, where the guys from the municipal administration get rid of the snow the same way ;)

I have seen the shortened Unimog's C.E.E.'s in use, and in use they are great, but with inexperienced operators, they are dangerous.
