Hello,

I've been looking to pick up an Ariens off of CL all winter and finally some decent ones have shown up after a lack of supply all winter in MA. I don't need more than a 24-26", and have been going back and forth on newer "Deluxe" models or the circa 2006 824/926/926LEs. Are the newer deluxe models built with the same quality as back then?

I don't need all the gadgets but I'd like chute deflector control and the wheel lock to help turning. What is the difference between the LE models?

I think I found a decent value on a 926LE for $500 in pretty good shape, but want to make sure LE isn't a lite model/prosumer. Most 824/924 are going for $600-800 so this one peaked my interest although it's a decent drive away.

Welcome kjmass1 , and that is a 926000 series 926LE you have pictured, probably a 926001 but you need to ask seller for the model number. $500 is a bit high now that it's had 10 seasons. That model is lesser than a new 921000 series Deluxe 28 even though the 926 is a PRO series chassis. To get it up to the performance of a deluxe 28, you'd need an autoturn kit, chute cable corrector kit, baffle kit (engine), and belt kits (drive and auger) and then after all that you'd still have the alloy gearbox and a smaller bucket.
Now, it's still a good machine with an American motor, but it would have to be very clean with obvious signs of light use for me to want it for that price. You're better off saving up another $400-$500 for a new deluxe 28.

On Edit: LE stands for Lighting and Electric (starting), But the difference between the LE and the DLE in the 926000 series is 3 main things : One has a differential and one has a spur gear; One has 16 inch tires the other has 15"; One has an iron gear case the other has an alloy case. Hope that helps.
