My neighbor just gave me a Jacobsen imperial 26 that he was going to put on the curb for trash. Data plate info on chassis is 52620-5388, and model H70-130065, with serial #9160 06042 on the Tecumseh engine.
I have done some searching and about the only info I have come up with is that the model 52620 is a 7HP and it was made around 1970. Can anyone point me in the right direction for maint. and parts info? I cleaned out the old gas, cleaned the plug, fixed the recoil and was able to get it started. It does have electric start and the machine appears complete. The only thing that does not work at this point is the drive mechanism. I assume it has a friction disk? Also what would the oil capacity be. on the H70? Thanks in advance for any and all help

I have one of those and one thing to check is the bearings the shafts ride in and the bushings in the jackshaft sprocket. Mine came with the gear just about cutting the shaft in half. The bushings were shot and I had to make a new shaft as it's no longer available. Parts are going to be tough for the machine itself but the engine is easy.

The other thing I did was to drill a hole and install a grease zerk in the sprocket. It's over kill and will very likely outlast me even if all I did was pack it with grease without the zerk :grin: You just need to be careful drilling the location so the zerk doesn't interfere with the chain. I have it almost up against the big gear.
My craftsman is similar and the photo is the Craftsman's gear modified.

Thank you so much for the info. I will let you know what condition the drivetrain is in when I pop the cover off. Between the lack of documentation and parts availability it could be a real challenge to bring this older machine back to its glory. I can see why folks still use them. They just don't make like this anymore. Thanks again for the pics.

The Jacobsen needs an impeller kit...I've had a couple...do that and it's as good a blower as you'll find...don't do it and you'll clog every two feet....

Hi, I have one that I got a few mo ths ago. The drive system is unique that the flywheel doubles as the friction disc as well as the drive system. Once the auger handle is engaged, take the left brake handle off and itll move. I have 3 videos on this resto if you'd like to take a gander.
