Looks like a great engine but for summer use, it is not shrouded for warming the carb and from snow getting in the linkage.
My take.

And shrouding that one, might be a little more challenging.

12 hp is a lot for most snow throwers. Do you need that much HP?

Maybe a good deal if you decided you want and need 12 HP and you are going to pick it up yourself. But as stated above, you still need to consider shrouding and retuning the carb for cold weather operation.

I was looking on ebay yesterday after seeing this post and all the ltc 12hp motors I saw were $50+ more than this one

Of course, there may be after market parts. They do seem to be popping up.

I would also add that the recoil starter would probably allow too much cool air for winter operation.

I wish I had more than 8hp on my current 26" cut machine last year. But you do bring up a good point, the Arirens with the Briggs that I'm looking to make a deal on this week I think is around 12hp.

I want the biggest motor on a smaller frame after last winter!
