I have an old ariens,starts 2nd pull worked great this year BUTT....out of the blue the inner impeler/auger started banging and hitting the inside of the wheelhouse,sparking and making a really loud noise. The shaft that connects that impeller to the motor doesnt seem to have any noticable play in it.......What do i do? Please Help....DANNY

Sounds like maybe the bronze bushings on the outer edges of the auger corkscrews need replaced.

Or maybe something got bent. Or maybe the impeller bearing needs replaced.

i know i have overlooked small things in the past but... did you split the two halves of the blower or at least take the belt off. if belt is under tension there wont appear to be play in the pulley. remove the belt and you will be able to see if the pulley or impeller shaft has play in it.
