I went to my local grocery store where I used to work and there is an 80 year old Korean war Vet I always talked with when we worked together and he's a really nice guy. Today he heard I was the snow blower guy and asked me if I could fix his Craftsman snow blower, "sure" I said, so he tells me the speed shifter handle broke and needs to be replaced but the part is expensive and he does not have a lot of dough as he can only work part time. I told him "bring it over and I'll fix it for you, maybe I can weld it" he asked me "how much" and I responded by telling him "One large pizza please". He broke out laughing and told me we got a deal. I post up pictures if he brings it over. He's a great guy to chat with and I am happy to help him out.

Good for you. :)

When I used to work at a service station, I always tried to help out the older customers whenever I could. Do simple fixes at cost. Check over entire vehicle even though it was in for a simple repair. Many of the customers were regulars, so I got to know most of them.

The younger people these days don't take much interest in the older generation. They are too self involved. A real shame. They could learn a thing or two.

Very admirable in being kind to others in need, especially an older gentleman who doesn't have much by way of disposable income.

You might be able to find a person with a lot of older snowblower carcasses in the back garage who might be able to help out with sourcing a part such as a knob or linkage and you might be able to get that for next to nothing. I did that when i needed some misc parts to fix my snowblower, bought a used starter to replace my broken one and he threw in some knobs, linkages for free that my new project required. He had a lot of old carcusses around and the misc parts he would never really get to, something like a starter had some value to him but the rest he wasn't concerned with at all.

So the world keeps going round as they say, nice to read about someone making someone's life a little easier!

Cheers.
